After years of working on the serial production of GRP yachts, we have been presented with a unique opportunity to retrofit the legendary Pedrazzini wooden boat with our system.

About the boat

Pedrazzini boats are a family-owned business with a rich history of over a century. They are known for their timeless elegance and impeccable quality, as well as their unique design language that reflects the cultural background of the Pedrazzini family and recalls the glittering dolce vita of the 1950s. They are also a symbol of the golden era of small but luxurious sports boats.

The challenge

In the process of electrifying the vintage boat, the primary goal was to maintain as much of its original aesthetics and functionality as possible. The request was to preserve the existing steering wheel, switches, and overall cabin and engine space, ensuring that the modernization process not only enhances the boats appeal but also conserves its unique charm.
To achieve this objective, careful planning was undertaken to ensure that the placement and integration of the newly installed components, including the motor, charger, shore power connection and distribution box does not disrupt the boats iconic design and layout.

We can hardly wait for the day when all the details regarding the equipment and the external aesthetics, such as carpentry, upholstery, polishing, will be fully finalized, giving the boat a new lease of life.

Navigating New Waters: Our Debut at METSTRADE 2023

This year marked the 35th anniversary of METSTRADE , featuring 1,540 exhibitors, including 240 newcomers, representing 53 countries across 11 halls at RAI Amsterdam. Busy stands, features, and corridors welcomed 28,900 visits from 18,630 unique attendees spanning 130 nationalities.

Our Debut

We proudly made our debut at this event. Navigating the challenges of being first-time exhibitors required extra effort in preparation, but it all paid off. The organizers played a crucial role in making our first-time participation smooth and successful. Their support and professionalism were evident throughout the preparations and the event, contributing to the overall positive experience.

Our product found a spot in the newly introduced Next Generation Propulsion Zone, a great initiative to celebrate the exhibitions anniversary. It provided an excellent platform to present ourselves to a diverse and additional audience.

Additionally, we showcased a new version of our top-mount throttle lever in the Titan color.

A Special Visit

We were honored to host Mr. Joze Drofenik, the Slovenian Ambassador in The Hague, at our booth. We extend our gratitude for his visit, and it was a privilege to share insights into our products and ambitions.

Countdown Begins: Join Us at METSTRADE Show 2023

With just one month until the unique 35th-anniversary edition of METSTRADE, anticipation grows as we gear up to exhibit for the first time at this event. From November 15th to 17th, the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Center will host marine industry experts and enthusiasts from around the world.

The METSTRADE Show is the worlds largest trade exhibition of marine equipment, materials and systems. It is the only truly international B2B exhibition for the marine leisure industry and has served as a platform for innovation, market developments and networking since its launch in 1988. METSTRADE is expanding again into a total of 11 halls for 2023. There will be a record-breaking 28 national pavilions to explore this year, visitors are expected from 116 different countries.

Next Generation Propulsion Zone

For the 35th anniversary edition, METSTRADE is adding a number of new initiatives including the Next Generation Propulsion Zone and Foiling Technology Pavilion and theatre. Next Generation Propulsion Zone is a dedicated area showcasing the latest innovations in electric and hybrid engines, alternative fuels, and zero-emission solutions and can be found in hall 13.

Reflections from the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo

Two weeks after the exhibition ended, we are still filled with enthusiasm from the incredible three-day showcase at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe, which took place at RAI Amsterdam from June 20-22.

Our team showcased our latest offerings: a compact high-performance propulsion system with an output power of 160 or 200 kW, available in both thrust-bearing and gearbox versions. Additionally, we presented a side-mount throttle lever with left or right-side options. We received numerous positive feedback regarding our products, with a notable emphasis on exceptional design.

It was truly inspiring to witness the interest from attendees, validating the growing demand for eco-friendly marine solutions on a global scale.

Justin from Aqua Lectric conducted an extensive review of the latest electric marine technologies showcased at the event. His insightful analysis and firsthand experience offer valuable insights into the advancements in this field. We recommend checking out his video.

Looking ahead, we are excited about our future plans. We have scheduled sea trials to further validate the performance and efficiency of our propulsion system in real-world conditions. Introducing our latest product: the side-mount throttle lever

Developed with versatility in mind, this new addition to our portfolio complements our range of top-mount throttle levers. Our products feature a consistent, uniform design, providing a sleek and recognizable appearance attributed to the manufacturer.

The side-mount throttle lever can be used in a variety of applications and is available in a left or right-side option. It is simple, user-friendly, and intuitive, and includes all essential functions such as manoeuvring mode and optional trim buttons and an interlock mechanism that prevents unintentional movement into the drive. Visual multicolour LED indicators tell the user the neutral detent position and different operating modes.

We paid a lot of attention to detail during development, including how it is mounted. A special design enables easy mounting of the throttle lever from the front side. Additionally, lever friction and detent are adjustable without the need to unmount the product. Finally, we understand that safety is of utmost importance when it comes to boating. Thats why our throttle levers are developed and rigorously tested according to marine industry standards, giving you peace of mind and confidence when youre out on the water.

The expo, held from June 20-22 at the RAI Amsterdam, brings together industry experts, manufacturers, and suppliers to showcase the latest innovations in electric and hybrid marine propulsion systems, charging technologies, batteries, and much more.

Our planning and preparations for the fair are already well underway and the team is working to ensure a successful event.

This year, we will introduce our most compact inboard propulsion system yet. One of the key advantages of this series is its extremely high power-to-weight ratio, making it an ideal choice for applications where space and weight are critical factors, without compromising on performance. Our electric propulsion systems are designed for easy service, require minimal maintenance, and can be installed on various drive units.

Additionally, we will showcase a new model of side-mount throttle lever with both left and right options. The simple and user-friendly lever includes all essential functions, such as manoeuvring mode and optional trim and interlock mechanisms.

re-boot 2023

3.2.2023

The reboot, if we may allow ourselves to express it in computer slang, happened after a forced 3-year break. Luckily the pandemic-related break could not do event any harm. Figures are impressive, registering nearly 237,000 visitors from over 100 countries and more than 1,500 exhibitors from 68 nations on 220,000 square meters in 16 halls.

This years tradeshow brought in some new additions to the extensive agenda. We saw the first edition of the blue innovation dock, a new platform offering the space to discuss the advancement of boating, which is a result of the collaboration between EBI (European boating industry) and boot Dusseldorf. The new sustainability forum started as an online event during the CARAVAN SALON in Dusseldorf in August and will set an international benchmark by offering the opportunity to address the future and issues of the sector and to exchange knowledge with companies from the marine industry and beyond. We had a great general experience visiting the event and most importantly a lot of fun. The show is well organized, has a wide variety of products on display and the exhibitors are friendly and informative. We also used the visit as an opportunity for a couple of meetings with our suppliers and potential customers.

We visited the METSTRADE show

Before we dig into details about METS highlights, we would like to provide a brief update on the progress. A lot has happened in the last five months since EHMExpo in June. We have been working on a new series of propulsion units, focusing on a more compact design (for engine rooms with limited space), development of the side mount lever is in progress, and certification processes are proceeding as planned (IMCI and DNV). More details will follow in separate articles.

We had quite an intense two-day visit to Amsterdam despite not being there as an exhibitor. Our goal was to visit and meet as many potential customers and suppliers as possible, see current novelties and get to know what the future will bring. One of the plans was to meet IMCI institutes personnel, who will certify our throttle lever.

Project NT SYSTEMS, electric propulsion for smart and environmentally friendly water transportation

Project goal: Development of an electric propulsion system for vessels, designed and optimized for marine use, with user-friendly smart features for management.

Project activities: Development and optimization of the electric motor, development of motor control electronics (HW, SW), battery development and integration of the battery subsystem, development of the user interface and smart functions, integration of onshore charging, system integration, testing and verification, validation, and pilot implementation.

Total project financial value: 430,380.14 EUR

Amount of EU funding: 258,228.06 EUR

Project duration: December 1, 2022 - November 30, 2024

Funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU

The project is part of the plan for recovery and resilience of the NOO: co-financing the implementation of RRI projects by consortia of companies focused on the green transition and circular economy.

We showcased our products to the public for the first time. Based on the response from the visitors, we received confirmation that we are going in the right direction. We also gathered a lot of important information which will help us in our further development.

After a two-year Covid postpone, the exhibition again took place in Amsterdam, from June 21.-23. The show has grown over time, and now practically all the industry players are there to showcase their products and latest novelties and meet customers and partners.

Our debut at the expo was a great success. We showcased our products to the public for the first time and received many positive feedbacks, which means a lot to us. A key takeaway is that the demand for electric propulsion in the maritime industry is high, therefore we are here for you with our knowledge and experience. We will proceed with our work philosophy and do our best to meet market demand and expectations.

We want to thank the organisers for making it happen and everyone who visited our stand. It was very nice to meet you all.
